ORGANIZATION:
- The UCSF Retirees Association was formed in 1986 by a group of retired staff
employees with the enthusiastic support of Chancellor Julius R. Krevans. It rapidly grew to become one of the most active retirees associations within the University of California.
PURPOSE:
- To create a bridge and provide continuity in the life of former UCSF employees
as they join the ranks of the retired.
- To foster a sense of continuing affiliation with the University, and, in particular
with UCSF.
- To provide opportunities for maintaining old friendships and forming new
bonds through social interaction.
- To keep members informed about important developments on campus, issues
that may affect retirement benefits, and resources available to retirees.
ACTIVITIES THE ASSOCIATION SPONSORS:
- Bulletins that inform members of important issues and local activities.
- Luncheons, museum exhibits and day trips, as well as variety of other
programs for its members.
- Special programs with guest lecturers on topics of current interest.
- Discount tickets for performances by the San Francisco Symphony and Opera.
SERVICE TO THE CAMPUS:
- The Retirees Association serves as a vital link between the University and the
community. Members are provided information to stimulate action that foster the image of UCSF in the community and to support its mission to provide health care and health science education and research.
- Funds are contributed annually to the UCSF Library to cover the costs of
subscriptions of periodicals and newspapers.
- Funds have been provided for the purchase of audio visual equipment for the
Faculty Alumni House.
- Funds also have been provided for the beautification of the UCSF CAMPUS.
